Who am I?
You may be wondering whether the information you find on this website is worth the effort exploring. Let me share a little about myself to convince you that I may have a few good ideas about teaching.
I am an Australian teacher with 30+ years experience. I have worked in three states of Australia, in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and in China.
My teaching includes time in government run and private school systems.
The schools I have taught in range from large urban schools of 2000+ students to tiny schools in remote Aboriginal communities of 20+ students.
I have taught every age group from toddlers in Kindergarten to adults at Tertiary level.
I started out teaching as a drama teacher in secondary school but my career has taken many different directions over the years. In addition to drama I have taught English, ESL, History, Geography, Social Studies, Junior Science and Music.
I spent time working in the professional theatre. I have worked as an actor, stage-manager, stage technician, lighting operator and theatre manager.
In student and amateur productions I have also functioned in the roles of director, lighting designer, production manager. I have written the scripts for several school and amateur productions.
I took a 6 months break from teaching and finished work on an e-book:
“Organised Chaos: A Very Practical Guide to Drama Teaching” .
I am also in the process of finalising arrangements to publish and market:
“The Games Box” (a user friendly index card systems of games for use in a broad range of educational settings)
“The Impro Teachers Kit” (an improvisation course in a box for drama and acting teachers)
“The Language Teachers Kit” (a range of games and simulation exercises suitable for use in the language classroom)
In 2009/2010 I trained ESL teachers and master trainers in the new English Curriculum Standards for the Supreme Education Council of Qatar.

I’m impressed with what I’ve read about you so far. I’m a high school drama teacher in a rural community in South Carolina. We are launching the IB program in our school, and I have been given the honor of being the MYP coordinator for our school. I have taught drama in our area for 20 years, and am bringing a little bit of culture to our great area of Santee Cooper Country. I look forward to talking with you!
