ADAM AND EVE

Players sit in a large circle on the floor. Two players are selected, one male and one female, to play first. They are blindfolded and placed apart in the circle. ‘Adam’ must try to locate and tag ‘Eve’ by repeating the question, “Where are you Eve?”. ‘Eve’ must answer, “Here I am Adam.”, while staying out of ‘Adam’s’ reach. Allow a reasonable length of time before declaring ‘Eve’ the winner if ‘Adam’ does not succeed. The other players help guide ‘Adam and Eve’ back into the circle if they begin to stray out but must not give any help in regard to capture or evasion.

Required: two blindfolds

BLIND ASSASSIN

All players are blindfolded. An ‘assassin’ is then chosen by the leader. The task of the ‘assassin’ is to ‘assassinate’ every member of the group by tapping them on the shoulder. Players who are ‘assassinated’ take their blindfolds off and leave the game.

Required: enough blindfolds for all players

BLIND BALLOON FOOTBALL

The players are divided into pairs and one of each pair is blindfolded. A different coloured balloon is placed on the floor at a distance of about 5-6 steps from the blindfolded player. The object of the game is to be the first to kick the balloon over a chalk line on the floor. The blindfolded partner is turned around several times then has to find and kick the balloon across the line with the help of his/her partner who gives verbal instructions. Neither member of the pair is allowed to touch each other or the balloon.

Required: two blindfolds and some coloured balloons

BLINDFOLD RELAY

At a distance of about 8-10m from the start line, place a chair. Players in the relay are blindfolded and carry a baton. At a signal they must navigate around the chair and come back to the team. The second player should be blindfolded ready to receive the baton and continue the relay.  Team members who are not blindfolded should support the players by calling out directions. Players need to listen carefully for the voices of their own team members and avoid taking directions from other team members.

Required: two blindfolds, one chair and one baton for each team

BLINDFOLD RETURN

A chair is placed on the edge of the game space. A player sits down on the chair. S/he is blindfolded, then stands up, takes 5 steps forward and turns to the right. S/he then takes 5 more steps forward and again turns to the right. This time s/he takes 10 steps forward then turns to the right. S/he repeats this once more then takes 5 steps and turns right. Another 5 steps forward should see the player once more back at the chair where s/he sits down and take off the blindfold. The player who manages to do this wins the game.

Required: one blindfold, one chair

BLIND HUNTER (an elimination game)

The ‘hunter’ is blindfolded and placed in the middle of the room. All the players choose their places at any piece of furniture in the room. The ‘hunter’ is turned around several times and then must search for his ‘prey’. The other participants must at all times have one part of their body in contact with their place (piece of furniture). They can stand or squat, or climb on to their pieces of furniture etc. to avoid being caught by the ‘hunter’ but if they lose contact with their places they are out. The last participant caught is the winner and becomes the next ‘hunter’

Required: one blindfold, as many pieces of furniture etc. as possible to provide places to avoid the ‘hunter’

BLIND NUMBER CALL

Players sit in two equal rows on opposite sides of the room and are numbered in pairs. One or more members are chosen to be the blind person/s. S/he stands in the centre of the room blindfolded and calls out a number. Those players stand up and cross the room slowly. The blind person tries to touch them. Anyone who is touched changes places with the blind person/s. It is important that when the numbers are called out the players stand up immediately and attempt to cross the room.

Required: enough blindfolds for each blind person

BLIND TAG

Everyone is in pairs. One of the pair is blindfolded. One pair are ‘It’. They try to tag all the other pairs.

Required: enough blindfolds for one of each pair

FINGERTIPS

Divide players into pairs. Ask them to touch all ten fingers. One player in each pair is blindfolded. The other player leads the blindfolded player by the fingertips. Some obstacles in the room are needed to navigate around.

Required: one blindfold for each pair in the group, furniture etc. for obstacles in the room.

HUNTER AND HUNTED

Players are asked to spread themselves around the walls of the room and to make sure the two players in the game do not injure themselves. Two players are selected at a time to play the game. One player is called the ‘Hunter’; the other is called the ‘Hunted’. The players are blindfolded.  The ‘Hunter’ is placed mid-way down the room. The ‘Hunted’ is placed at one end of the room. The object of the ‘Hunted’ is to touch the wall at the opposite end of the room without being caught by the ‘Hunter’. The ‘Hunter’ must catch his prey before s/he reaches the wall. Other players are not allowed to give verbal assistance to the players in their objective.

Required: two blindfolds

MINEFIELD

Players are divided into teams then pairs. The pathway to the end of the room for each of the teams is then scattered with various pieces of furniture and other objects. One person in each pair is blindfolded. The task is to navigate through the minefield to the finishing line at the other end of the room without touching any objects (mines) or making any noise. The seeing partner has the task of vocally guiding them through the minefield. Any player who touches an object explodes a mine and is out of the game. The seeing partner can only guide them by voice. If they touch their partner both are out of the game. The team with the most members to navigate the minefield (or in the case of ties the first team to cross the minefield) wins the game.

Required: one blindfold for each pair in the team, furniture etc. to create the ‘minefield’

SHOE SHUFFLE

Players are divided into pairs. Chairs are placed facing inward in a circle formation. Player A sits in a chair.  Player B, who is blindfolded, is on her/his knees in front of player A. The blindfolded players take off both of their partner’s shoes and throw them into the middle of the circle. At a signal from the leader they must then retrieve their partner’s shoes and put them back on the correct feet. Player A calls out directions and, when both shoes are put on correctly, takes off player B’s blindfold. The first pair to do so wins the game.

Required: a blindfold and chair for each pair in the game
